SkounyCrypt

Certain notes are not meant for sharing with other people. You may have some ideas worth writing down, but you might need to protect them as well. A simple password can prevent anyone from accessing your private information. SkounyCrypt enables you to protect any text fragment by saving it in a secure file. The application's design is very simple and its functionality is straightforward. It takes only a few moments to protect your text against unauthorized users.

SkounyCrypt works on Windows XP and all later editions, up to Windows 7, as well as various Server editions. If you have a processor of at least 1 GHz and 512 MB of RAM or more, you can run the application without any difficulties. It uses only 2 MB of disk space and it requires .NET Framework 4.0 or higher.

The user interface will remind you of the standard Windows Notepad utility. It is possible to enable a toolbar, with options for copying, cutting or pasting text, undo-ing changes, opening or saving files and others. You can also find options for selecting or deselecting all your text.

You can save your work in plain text format or as an encrypted file, in SkounyCrypt's native format (.egz). Once you name your file, on a standard Save dialog, you will have to create a new password, on a separate window. SkounyCrypt uses the AES encryption algorithm (256-bit key + 128-bi IV) to protect your text. Obviously, an encrypted file can be opened only if you provide the correct password. While editing text, in a previously saved file, you may change the password, on a separate window.
